Learning Question Tag

I found my students studying about Question Tag (QT) with Ummi Hera this morning. She explained the function of QT. "It's similarly with 'kan' in Indonesian." she explained, "You can use it for ensuring statement before."

Then, she wrote some examples for students on the white board.
1. Ahmad goes to school alone, doesn't he!
2. Fuad doesn't go to school today, does he!

"If your statement is negative, question tag must be positive. And if your statement is positive, question tag must be negative."

She wrote new examples.
1. They brought books when they go to library, didn't they!
2. You bring new books for your friends, don't you!

"What can you take from these examples?" She asked, but student still got little confused. "Ok. If your statement is in past tense, question tag must be past tense. Present tense is for present tense too."

For the next step, Ummi Hera threw questions to students, "I borrow your books, .... " She pointed students one by one, but no one answered correctly. "Give up?!! no one knows? I'll give a chocolate."

Students are very enthusiast, but they still can't answer it correctly.

"My beloved students. It's just exception. You use it just for question tag. Specially for 'I' we use 'are' for question tag."
